About the Dip and Strip Process
Stripping antique timber furnishings of its old or initial coating is the first and most critical action in the restoration process. The original varnish, paint, or other coating needs to be entirely removed so that no residue is left and that the new surface can be effectively refinished. This crucial time-consuming process does not allow for shortcuts.
Due to the very intricate process and delicate nature of the items being restored, experience matters when selecting the right company to trust with your valuable items. Our team will treat your project with the utmost respect and care to ensure that a first-class job is the outcome.
The process of dip stripping is extremely tough on furnishings. Your fine wood antique item is first dipped into a big barrel of restoration solvents. A couple of minutes later, when the chemical solvents have had a chance to respond to the existing finish, the furniture is removed from the chemical treatment tank. It is carefully but intensely cleaned, then rinsed, and put out to dry completely.
A dip into the chemical bath removes the coated layers and deposits from your furnishings and prepares your item for refinishing.
J.G. Nasile has a long history of successful dip and stirp projects and looks forward to the opportunity to work with you on your next restoration masterpiece.
